Meet Nick
Nicholas Engels is a master facilitator, coach, and relationship thought leader. He founded Engels Leadership LLC 2016 as a resource for emerging and established leaders to further develop personal and professional maturity in their businesses and families. His work covers topics such as functional responsibility and risk, collaborating more productively with others, cultivating emotional gravitas, finding purpose and meaning, and developing high-end coaching and mentoring skills.
Nick practices his interdisciplinary teaching and coaching nationwide. He works with numerous professional groups including accountants, financial advisors and lawyers, family businesses, medical teams, C-suite executives, boards of directors, universities and colleges, and non-profits. Each year, up to ten carefully selected leaders enroll in Nick’s “Leadership Maturity, Relationship Wisdom” course experience.
Early in his career, Nick worked in a variety of research settings, including a highly-regarded University of Rochester project studying the multigenerational impact of trauma and anxiety on children and parents. His 10 years of experience leading groups in clinical mental health settings, substance abuse facilities, and inside maximum-security prisons were instrumental in guiding his work with business and family teams today.
Nick is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Western Australia. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac University and a master’s degree from the University at Buffalo, and completed his postgraduate training at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family in Washington, DC.
Nick and his wife live in Brighton, NY. When he’s not coaching or teaching, he enjoys backpacking, disc golfing, and connecting with family and friends. He also enjoys time writing and meditating daily.
